PHOENIX FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF 2011 SERIES WITH “FASHION ROCKS MIM”

Globally-Infused Museum Production Highlights Music-Influenced Fashion Themes

 

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (March 24, 2011) The Phoenix Fashion Week organization kicks off its 2011 series of events this week by teaming up with the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM)  for a first-ever fashion showcase fusing the heart-pounding sights of a high-energy runway production and the transformative sounds of globally-focused music. The theme, fittingly enough, is Fashion Rocks MIM and will showcase art, music, style and the evolution of street culture and music-influenced fashion trends. On Thursday, March 31, starting at 6:30 p.m., guests at MIM will be treated to trendy fashions and classic designer styles, with an interactive fashion show and tour of the American Sabor exhibition in the Target Gallery, followed by an after party at the Blue Martini.

 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. – Fashionable “Swag Bags” will be given to the first 100 guests

For “Fashion Rocks MIM”, four top international designers will each showcase sixteen runway looks conceived by notable Phoenix stylists set to the sounds of internationally-renowned DJ Q. Creative hair and make-up will highlight each collection’s runway, inspired by both the music and cultural details of the designer’s home country.

1.) Fender The Collection- USA - Product Mgr. Shay Graffius

Stylist: Jai Anderson: Wardrobe styling has been the progression of her career that has spanned over 20+ years. She has worked in such markets as Denver, Phoenix, Palm Springs and Los Angeles. As a personal stylist for the prestigious members-only lifestyle club, The Madison Club, Jai has styled ceo's to celebrity clients such as Jerry Weintraub, Mark Wahlberg, and Mary Hart. www.jandersonfashion.com

 

2.) Black Russian Label - Russia & Africa – Designer : Joanna de’Shay

Stylist: Jill Laine, Style Coach and owner of www.JillLaineStyle.com.  My background is in fine art, the decorative arts, and interior design. I've worked as a Stylist for magazines and photographers, to me Great Style is Great Style throughout One's life, it's how you live and how you dress yourself. Currently I teach a 3 part workshop for women that I wrote called "Secrets of Style."  My mission is to educate and help women unleash their best personal style, regardless of age, dress size or income. 

 

3.) Galina Couture - Bulgaria - Designer : Galina Mihalva 

Stylist: Brian Swan is a pasionate, visionary nominated as "the Valley's most fashionable man under 30". His style inspiration stems from artists/brands like "The Rat Pack, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Android and Homme. With his creativity and passion for fashion, he launched Right Hand Man Image Consulting.  www.rhmstyle.com 

 

4.) Mariska - Hungary - Designer : Maria Janossy  

Stylist: Shannon Campbell Graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology,NY. Currently a freelance wardrobe stylist here in the valley.  Wardrobe Stylist for Magazine Editorials, Fashion Shows, and Celebrities. www.shannonmcampbell.com 

 

Fashion Rocks MIM serves as a kick-off event for the 2011 Phoenix Fashion Week event lineup,” said Phoenix Fashion Week Executive Director Brian Hill, “Phoenix Fashion Week has evolved into a constantly growing, year-round fashion organization and this unique event will help position us for an even larger event this fall,” he said.
